Museum of the Moving Images Honors Glenn Close: Part 1 An Exclusive from Jim Dale


Glenn Close was honored by Museum of the Moving Image at its 32ndannual Salute on December 3, 2018 at 583 Park (63rdSt. & Park Ave).

Ethan Hawke, Christian Slater, Bobby Cannavale and Tate Donovan all honor Glenn Close at the Museum of the Moving Images Salute.

Also in attendance were: Bob Balban, Dennis & Coralie Charriol Paul, Cheryl Henson, Kevin Huvan, Linda LeRoy Janklow, Angela & Rhett Turner, Ivan Lustig, Michael Barker, Carl Goodman, and a room full of admirers turned out to celebrate this iconic legend.

Jim Dale talked hilariously about working with Glennie in Barnum and T2C got an exclusive that this award winning actor was bring a new one-man show back to Broadway.


Glenn Close made her feature debut in The World According to Garp, earning her first Oscar nomination. She was subsequently Oscar-nominated for The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal AttractionDangerous Liaisons and Albert Nobbs, for which she was also co-screenwriter, producer and lyricist on the Golden-Globe nominated song, Lay Your Head Down. Ms. Close made her theatre, and Broadway, debut in Harold Prince’s revival of Love for Love. Her theater credits include The Crucifer of Blood, Barnum (Tony nomination) and Tony Awards for her performances in The Real Thing, Death and the Maiden and Sunset Boulevard. Ms. Close headlined the legal thriller Damages for five seasons, winning two consecutive Best Actress Emmys. Her twelve Golden Globe nominations include a Best Actress Award for a television production of The Lion in Winter. Among her twelve Emmy nominations is a Best Actress Award for Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story (earning her a Peabody Award as executive producer). Currently, she stars in the Sony Pictures Classics release, The Wife, with Jonathan Pryce and Christian Slater, and is onstage making her Public Theater debut in the New York premiere of Jane Anderson’s Mother of the Maid, as the mother of Joan of Arc.

The Salute helps support the Museum’s education and community engagement programs, which serve youth and adults, and children and their families, most of whom are residents of the most ethnically diverse region in the world, Queens.

Close joins the ranks of past honorees who have received the Museum’s Salute. Past honorees include Annette Bening, Warren Beatty, Tom Cruise, Clint Eastwood, Robert DeNiro, Goldie Hawn, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, Hugh Jackman, Steve Martin, Julianne Moore, Al Pacino, Sidney Poitier, Julia Roberts, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Jimmy Stewart.

Events

Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. Currently she has a screenplay in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
