This past year has taught us that no matter what we will have music. The sounds that provoke our thoughts and bring joy to our minds cannot be denied.
Here are some of our favorite music makers this month:
We are very much in love in New York City with Sing for Hope. The organization uplifts lives by unleashing creativity virtually and in-person for under-resourced schools, healthcare facilities, refugee camps, transit hubs, and public spaces. Their work ranges from arts workshops that improve academics for at-risk students, to specialized music programs that enhance cognition for dementia patients, to arts interventions that facilitate integration for refugee youth, to the Sing for Hope Pianos that unite communities in our world’s public spaces.
SFH is an ‘artists’ peace corps’ that reaches millions of people annually in the home-base of New York. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and in partnership with hundreds of community-based organizations and thousands of artist partners, SFH uses the creative arts for healing, learning, and social cohesion. Currently they are playing in the city and performing to lift spirits. They even are collaborating with the likes of Mostly Modern Projects, which supports the performance and creation of music by living composers through concerts and educational outreach initiatives. All together it is just sweet, sweet music.
