Unlike buying clothes, a car, or computer, where the quality is proportionate to the cost, a music cover charge does not guarantee a thrilling experience in a cabaret. A ticket to hear Christine Andreas should cost as much and be just as hard to obtain as one to Hamilton. Luckily it’s not, but the afterglow you’ll have from her performance will equate. The weather outside was calm last night but her show at Feinstein’s/54 was an absolute perfect musical storm. Words cannot make you grasp the sound of her voice but I hope my photos capture some of her beauty and passionate, gutsy personality. For me, the experience was enhanced because of the delicacy and elegance of the harmonics that pianist Kenny Ascher produced on 54’s Steinway. Adding to Kenny’s genius were some awesome arrangements he was playing by another pianistic great, Lee Musiker (who was in the audience). Your wallet will be minus a few bucks to hear Christine Andreas but her sounds will stay with you longer than your car or computer will.
