My View: Sid & Bernie Talk To The Friars Without The 77WABC Censor

The Bernie & Sid Show is one of the most popular Talk Radio programs in the tri-state area and they were joined by Rita Cosby, television news anchor, correspondent, radio host and best selling author for an evening of talk at the Friars Club last night.  As usual, what happens in the Friars stays in the Friars. Bernie & Sid had a lively discussion about current events that wouldn’t make the censors cut on 77 WABC but the Friars didn’t have a problem with it in the Frank Sinatra Dining Room.  Rita Cosby’s beautiful  complexion turned a little redder than usual as she steered the two provocative talk show personalities around many of the issues of the day.  The Q&A was also a lively event with Mayoral Candidate Bo Dietl having some interesting comments about the recent New York City election.

SIDNEY “ARTHUR” FERRIS ROSENBERG started his radio career on “The Drive,” heard strictly on the Internet at The show eventually moved on to terrestrial radio, and was syndicated nationally in more than 40 markets by SportsFan and Westwood One. Sid also co-hosted the NFL Today pre-game show heard nationally on Westwood One for three seasons. After two years on national radio, Sid took his act to New York City, where he co-hosted “The Sports Guys,” heard mornings on legendary radio station 102.7 WNEW FM.

Bernard McGuirk is the Executive Producer of the Imus in the Morning” radio program. A native of New York City, McGuirk is also the program’s quick-witted on-air contributor and has been with the show since it’s latter days at WNBC Radio. Prior to that McGuirk worked various jobs within NBC in promotions and also at the network and local news divisions.

Bernie made the move with Mr. Imus from WNBC Radio to WFAN Radio in New York City in 1988 and remained there until 2007. During that time the Imus in the Morning program was simulcast on MSNBC TV for ten years with McGuirk as part of the on-air ensemble contributing with various comedic characters and man-on-the-street interviews. The Imus in the Morning show made the move to 77WABC in December 2007 with Bernie remaining as its executive producer and adding color to the day’s local and national news updates by adding his own take on the day’s serious and not-so-serious news. The program also aired on the Fox Business Network until the summer of 2015.

Rita Cosby is one of the most recognized and respected broadcasters in America and has been quoted and profiled by hundreds of media outlets across the country and overseas.

Born in Brooklyn, she is a renowned Emmy-winning TV host, veteran correspondent and multiple best selling author, who anchored highly rated primetime shows on Fox News Channel and MSNBC. She is currently a special correspondent for the top-rated CBS syndicated newsmagazine, Inside Edition, does frequent hosting and reporting for CNN/HLN, and hosts “The Rita Cosby Show” on the legendary WABC Radio, the most listened to talk station in America.
