Tomorrow, March 1st, an oversized inflatable colon will be on display in Herald Square Park from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in honor of National Colon Cancer Awareness Month. The inflatable colon is an interactive way for people to learn about a variety of disease states, including polyps, colon cancer and Crohn’s disease, and understand the importance of regular colorectal cancer screenings by displaying healthy tissue. With colorectal cancer being the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women in the United States, we encourage you to stop by and learn more.
This educational, inflatable colon was donated to the Colon Cancer Coalition by the employees of NJ-based Salix Pharmaceuticals after it was stolen last fall. Salix will be announcing the name of this new colon on Friday as well.
