This past week a very special feast took place to celebrate the coming of the second annual White Truffle Festival.
One hundred guests gathered on the Upper West Side at the lovely with Ubrani Truffles for a night of exquisite wine and fine dinning. The night was hosted by hosted by Emanuele Baldi of Prunotto Winery and Vittorio Giordano, VP of Urbani Truffles.
Prunotto had an elegant display of their bottles at the VIP foodie experience. Divine pairings included samplings from the vibrant 2014 Fiulot Barbera D’Asti Docg; the fruity aromas of the 2012 Mompertone Monferrato Rosso Doc; the intense 2010 Bussia Barolo Docg; the floral 2009 Vigna Colonnello Bussia Barolo Docg Riserva; and the 2012 velvety Darolo Docg.
Each wine selection measured in sheer delight to highlight a special menu curated by an all-star roster of chefs from the Altamarea Group, led by owner and Head Chef Michael White. Michael’s team of chefs included Chef Scott Schneider, Executive Chef of Ai Fiori; Chef Lauren DeSteno, Altamarea Group Corporate Executive Chef; and Chef Bill Dorrler, Executive Chef of Osteria Morini, Ristorante Morini, and Nicoletta Restaurants.
Prunotto, one of the oldest and most prominent wineries in Piedmont, Italy, and Urbani Truffles, the leading global purveyor of fresh truffles and truffle products, have teamed up for the second year to present the 2017 White Truffle Festival, taking place November 3-12. After launching exclusively in New York last year, this year’s week-long festival will also expand into Houston, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and Portland, allowing wine and truffle lovers to indulge in decadent truffle-based dishes at the country’s best Italian restaurants.
The 2017 White Truffle Festival aims to bring the world-famous celebration of the Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco di Alba to the US — marrying two of the most luxurious culinary exports of Piedmont: Alba white truffles and red wines. For this special week, restaurants will be presenting exclusive menus and dishes showcasing Alba white truffles from Urbani Truffles, paired with wines from Prunotto, including Barolo and Barbaresco, whose vines grow in the same areas where the white truffles are found. Specialty dishes will be prepared and paired expertly with the Prunotto wines by prominent chefs and restaurateurs around the country.
