Rutgers Scarlet Knights Men’s Basketball team beat Big Ten Conference opponent the Nittany Lions of Penn State University by a final score of 72 to 61 last evening at The Rutgers Athletic Center, (The RAC). Penn State entered the game nationally ranked at number 20. The Scarlet Knights are off to their off to their best start since 1975, (the undefeated 1975-76 season) at 12 -3
Rutgers fan sold out the RAC and the Knights rewarded them by coming from behind in to defeat Big Ten rival PSU. The RAC was rocking from start to finish as the Knights kept the game close. Rutgers continued its surge Tuesday night, rallying past No. 20 Penn State for a 72-61 triumph before a sold-out crowd that included Scarlet Knights football coach Greg Schiano, Major League Baseball player (and RU alum) Todd Frazier and Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman (and RU alum) Sebastian Joseph-Day.
Ron Harper Jr. led a balanced scoring effort with 22 points, hitting on five of his 10 shots from the field and draining all 12 of his free throw attempts. Jacob Young chipped in with 13 points off the bench while Myles Johnson tallied 10 points and five rebounds in Rutgers’ sixth straight win.
Rutgers Coach Pikiell has the Scarlet Knights at 12-3, his best mid-season record, with fans dreaming of the first NCAA Tournament in 29 years. Rutgers Men’s Basketball. NCAA. B1G.
