On Thursday, September 26, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art lauded four literary leaders with a record-breaking crowd at the 14th annual Carle Honors. Hosted at Guastavino’s in New York City, the annual gala applaud publishing’s most impactful individuals and organizations for their role in enriching the world of children’s books, and raises much needed support to further the Museum’s mission to inspire a love of art and reading through picture books. The 2019 Carle Honors raised a record-breaking total of over $356,000 in funds for the Museum and its programming.
Actor Sir Ben Kingsley and U.K. Channel 4 TV star Rachel Riley were honored at The Algemeiner’s 6th Annual J100 Gala in New York on September 26. The evening celebrated the release of the Algemeiner’s J100 List; 100 significant individuals who influence Jewish life. Editor In Chief and CEO, Dovid Efune, and Publisher Simon Jacobson welcomed guests to the important evening. “How does the tragic story of antisemitism end? Who can say? What we do know is that we are called on today to write our chapter in the book. We are determined that it shall never be said that under our watch the beast of antisemitism reawakened and that it did so unopposed” said Efune.

Actress AnneLynne McCord showed her support for the local firefighter Engine Co. 27 in Hollywood by attending a benefit film screening hosted by Exitus Wine at the Montalban Theatre for Firefighter Appreciation Month. The evening raised funds and awareness for the California Fire Foundation after one of the most deadly fire seasons in recent history in California.

The event with be hosted by late night host Seth Meyers and attended by actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Liz Callaway among others.
