On August 3 a CD signing and performances from Laura Bennati brought delight to those who attended the event. Ghostlight Records celebrated the cast album of the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of She Loves Me with a special in-store performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble featuring the show’s lyricist Sheldon Harnick as special guest.
Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi, Tony Award nominee Gavin Creel, Byron Jennings, Tony Award winner Michael McGrath and Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski starred in this new Broadway production of She Loves Me. Also starring Peter Bartlett, the cast features Nicholas Barasch and ensemble members Cameron Adams, Alison Cimmet, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Benjamin Eakeley, Sara Edwards, Michael Fatica, Gina Ferrall, Jenifer Foote, Andrew Kober, Laura Shoop, Jim Walton.
Directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, with music direction by Paul Gemignani, the Broadway revival of She Loves Me includes book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Jerry Book, based on a play by Miklos Laszlo. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and dance arrangements & incidental music is by David Krane. The design team includes David Rockwell (Sets), Jeff Mahshie (Costumes), Don Holder (Lights), Jon Weston (Sound).
Robert Cuccioli and Glory Crampton, stared in the York Theatre Company production of Sheldon Harnick and Sherman Yellen’s Rothschild & Sons. Rothschild & Sons played an extended run from October 6-November 8, 2015. The cast reunited July 25 to celebrate the official release of the cast recording. Lyricist Harnick, book writer Yellen, director Jeffrey B. Moss and Jim Morgan the York’s director were all at the event held at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s at 6 PM. Produced by John Yap for JAY Records, the album features the original cast of the Off-Broadway production. . Harnick told Playbill in June that producers were in talks to revive the show Off-Broadway in spring/winter 2017 though no official announcement has been made.
The show is based on the Tony-nominated The Rothschilds, about a dynasty of German-Jewish financiers, which opened on Broadway in 1970.
A discussion with Sheldon Harnick, Sherman Yellen, Jeffrey Moss, Robert Cuccioli and Glory Crampton, moderated by James Morgan. The performance consisted of two cuts from the cd including“In my Own Lifetime.”
Rothschild & Sons, a more intimate, one-act retelling, features several songs not included in the original, with new lyrics by Harnick. Composer Bock passed away in 2010. A story of human rights and triumph, the new work focuses on the relationships between the patriarch of the family, Mayer Rothschild, played by Cuccioli, his wife Gutele, played by Crampton, and their five sons, living as Jews in a German ghetto.
