Hotsy Totsy Burlesque’s “Tribute to The Star Wars Holiday Special” at The Slipper Room, was a delicious romp through fantasy honoring the actual 1978 disaster- I mean “holiday special”.

This annual tradition, hosted by Cherry Pits in pink side buns (a wacky cross between Princess Lea and Frenchy from Grease), and Joe the Shark (whose leg holster bolstered his Han Solo cup), did not disappoint.  For Slipper Room regulars there was the typical go-go fare in between acts, but the crowd lit up and loved every Star Wars kitsch and innuendo during the actual show.

Clips from the movie (that Spielberg is reportedly ashamed of and the actors were contractually tied to) were shown as intros to the various space acts as raffle tickets were purchased for playful Star Wars swag.

Wookie porn, a female Darth Vader wielding a phallic light saber and Cherry Pit’s finale strip to “space alien bartender” Bea Arthur’s less-than-iconic song were just some of the fantastic fare coming from this twisted galaxy far, far away.

Tassels twirled and sand garb never was so sexy as cod pieces suggested androgyny and a Darth Vader wrapped in a classic 1977 boxer’s robe whipped out his golden prowess- I mean necklace.  Kink in combat boots seemed to be the theme that dominated and delighted.

Next up for Hotsy Totsy- Muppets and then Ladies of Disney… get your tickets now!
