The producer Pat Addiss and I headed to TBar Steak & Lounge located at 1278 3rd Ave, between 73rd and 74th St. Quaint, cheerful, colorful and spacious, the decor is in orange and turquoise with wood motifs.

To the table is brought homemade olive and rosemary breads that are out of this world. Though gluten free, I completely ignored that fact this afternoon and was glad I did. This bread is salty and crunchy on the outside and melts into your mouth. It is seriously heavenly and worth any price I had to pay.

Back to being healthy, my guest and I split the T-Bar Salad ($17) with heart of Palm, Green Beans, Tomatoes, Cucumber. This generous portion was fresh, cooling and delightful.

For the entree, of course we had to do steak. The 24oz Prime Aged Bone in Rib Eye ($63) was done to perfection and was succulent, full of flavor, tender and again melted in your mouth. The portions at TBar Steak & Lounge are extremely generous and we even ended up taking a portion of this home. This is seriously the best steak I have ever eaten and I have reviewed a lot of steaks. it seems the perfection level is raising the bar and TBar Steak & Lounge has raised it to olympian level.

We decided to complement the steak with an award winning side of Sweet Summer Corn with shallots ($9) and Mac and Cheese ($9). This was the first time I had had corn all summer and it brought the best of the season down to scrumptious tasty mouth fulls. The only complaint I had was the mac and cheese is bland. Both my guest and I only took a bite, but with the rest of the food so amazingly phenomenal, it really was no big deal.

We shouldn’t have, but again we decided on dessert and we were so glad we did. Both Pat and I were delighted with the Warm Crisp ($15). This apple dish  served with apples, crumble,  caramel and French vanilla ice cream is a sensory delight to your mouth and was one of the best desserts I have ever had.

If I had to choose a place to have my last meal, I would definitely choose TBar Steak & Lounge. I can’t wait to introduce the rest of my friends to this gastro delight.
