When you think of the best shows of 2017 Hello, Dolly!, Come From Away, Sunday in The Park With George, Falsettos’ and Dear Evan Hansen. However these shows have already won awards. So in the category that has already won, highlights were:

Best Broadway Play: Indecent.

Best Off Broadway Play: Vietgone, Red Speedo, Love, Love, Love.

Best Revival of a Play: Jitney 

Best Broadway Musical: Dear Evan Hansen, Come From Away, Falsettos, Shuffle Along, Sunday in the Park With George.

Best Off Broadway Musical: Ride the Cyclone.

Best Revival of a Musical: Hello Dolly

Best Actor In A Play: Kevin Kline in Present Laughter.

Best Actor In A Musical: Jake Gyllenhaal,  Sunday in the Park with George and Ben Platt, Dear Evan Hansen.

Best Actress In A Play: Laura Linney, Little Foxes

Best Actress In A Musical: Bette Midler, Hello Dolly.

With that out of the way, here is my Best of 2017

Best Broadway Play: There isn’t one. Maybe Harry Potter can break the mediocrity.

Best Off Broadway Play: Pipeline.

Best Revival Of A Play: Jesus Hopped The A Train

Best Broadway Musical: Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Best Off Broadway Musical: Desperate Measures at The York Theatre.

Best Revival Of A Play: Once On This Island

Best Actor In A Play: Mark Rylance, Farinelli and the King.

Best Actor In A Musical: Ethan Slater, Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Best Supporting Actor In A Play: Edi Gathegi,  Jesus Hopped The A Train.

Best Supporting Actor In A Musical: Gavin Lee, Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Best Actress In A Play: Carrie Coons, Mary Jane.

Best Actress In A Musical: Hailey Kilgore, Once On This Island.

Best Supporting Actress In A Play: Nabiyah Be, School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play.

Best Supporting Actress In A Musical: Alex Newell, Once On This Island.






Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. Currently she has a screenplay in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
