Times Square Gets Confetti Test

Times Square Gets Confetti Test

Multi-colored papers drifted from the marquee at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square this morning, as part of preparations for New York City’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

Organizer Tim Tompkins called the event a confetti test to see if “Is it light enough so that is goes up as well as down.”

This year giant video boards placed around Times Square will also show how countries all over the world are ringing in the New Year.

“This is the place and the time on New Year’s Eve where the world comes together and has something in common rather than something that divides us,” Tompkins said.
