Transitions and Aging Throughout the Seasons

Transitions and Aging Throughout the Seasons

Seasons change and time passes by on the calendar in the blink of an eye. The transitional times in our lives and decades go by quickly. In a city like New York long workdays, unhealthy meals and lack of sleep can add to the years on our bodies. While there are many solutions on the market being pitched to make us feel younger and more vibrant, there are few things that actually work.

After a long winter of non-stop travel for work and very little sleep, I for the first time in my life began to see what I could only describe as exhaustion in my face. I had always been one of those people who no one ever thought I was tired. Call it good genes or just the natural coloring of my cheeks, but whatever it was it had started to fade. I knew I needed to try something. When you feel like your eyes look as worn out as your mind it is time for new in your life like the flowers blooming this spring.

Just in time for the season came the introduction of Tru NIAGEN. At first the last thing I thought I needed was another pill. But, honestly who in this modern day world really has time nor the finances to go on a seven-day retreat at a spa in the mountains to recoup from city life.

The motto of the company is to age better. It was the pitch I was looking for at this moment in my life. I want to age better and I want to feel better. For a long weekend I gave the supplements a trial period. My Thursday started off with dreadful exhaustion and zero energy to even go to my beloved gym classes. In fact, I had felt a tinge in my knee this day from an old sports bang up back in my youth. I took the simple daily doses of Tru NIAGEN in the morning with breakfast, skipped gym class and iced my knee while at work on my computer for the weekday. The hours passed with a bit less stress than normal and I did notice that night falling asleep with a bit more ease.

As the weekend passed I continued my intake of the supplements. By Monday morning I had noticed some honest changes. While I didn’t push going to the gym due my knee, I did notice that there was what felt like a quicker recovery of it than normal. I looked in the mirror and I had less redness and puffiness in my face, as well as the normal deep, dark circles around my eyes. Perhaps the biggest change was that I actually did sleep soundly over the weekend. I do normally wake up from stress after four hours, but Saturday and Sunday were restful nights. I was grateful for the change.

It’s little differences that I felt immediately with Tru NIAGEN. I’ve tried a lot of supplements over the years with little results. But the brand actually made me a believer. I do think stress is the biggest factor in aging. The compliments and combinations here made a legitimate difference in the way I felt and looked.

An interview with the brand and Charles Brenner, PhD, Chief Scientific Advisor of ChromaDex, helped me understand more as to why I had a positive shift in my dynamic:

What is it that makes this supplement different from the others in a competitive market?

“Tru Niagen consists of a newly discovered, highly bioavailable form of vitamin B3 called nicotinamide riboside (NR). NIAGEN-branded NR and Tru NIAGEN are the only NR supplements that have notifications from the US Food and Drug Administration as a new dietary ingredient and as generally regarded as safe.”

Too often both women and men look for a quick solution to look better – such as Botox. But, it is the inside that needs to be ‘healed’ to find true improvement. Can you tell me how you came up with your formula to improve the way we look and feel?

“So true. ChromaDex is not a cosmetic company and we are not focused on cosmetic solutions. NR, the active ingredient in Tru NIAGEN, is a vitamin precursor of NAD, which is the central regulator of metabolism. Our body’s supply of NAD is challenged by aging and many stresses of life including sun and oxygen free radical damage. By supporting NAD, Tru NIAGEN supports our health and wellness and helps us Age Better.”

What was the inspiration behind this unique formula?

“I discovered NR as a vitamin in 2004 when I was doing fundamental research in metabolism. As we uncovered the many ways in which boosting NAD supported animal health and wellness, we were fortunate to partner with ChromaDex, Inc, which licensed our technology, developed a large scale clean synthesis of NR, moved it through the regulatory process, and supported human clinical trials. More than 100 years of research has demonstrated the essentiality of NAD in healthy metabolism and stress resistance. We are constantly inspired by researchers and individuals who have found positive effects of NR in supporting health and healthy aging.”

It’s for this reasoning that I began to understand the power of Tru NIAGEN. Every cell in your body has a coenzyme in it called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), which helps with things, such as maintaining healthy cholesterol levels already within a normal range; increasing cellular metabolism and energy production; and supporting liver function, especially after stress.  As we age, our NAD levels decrease. The decline in NAD can be exacerbated by things like eating too much, drinking too much, working too much, lack of sleep… making a lot of things off-limits if we want our cells to function at their best.

But today, exciting results from a clinical trial came out in Nature Communications that provide conclusive evidence that chronic NIAGEN® nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplementation effectively and tolerably increases levels of NAD in humans, without adverse effects. NIAGEN NR is a cutting-edge vitamin B3 proven to boost NAD levels in humans/people.

It’s not a magical bean, nor a fountain of youth myth. It’s real science and a real way to help you. After all, we are all worth a moment of feeling good.
