For the first time since 1945, Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day fall on the same date. How do you observe Valentine’s Day on the day Lent begins? Do you give up chocolate, champagne or sex? After all this is the month of atonement leading up to Easter and the #1 and #2 thing people give up for Lent is sugar and alcohol.
During lent you are suppose to abstaining from meat and fast. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the only two days of the whole year on which fasting and abstinence are required.
Many will be giving to others on this day, offering good deeds to charities. Isn’t that the perfect act of love?
Many will get a vegetarian meal and turn their loved ones into the desert. If you ask me, this is much more romantic than boxes of candy that will pack on the pounds.
Going to church with the person who has your affections is actually sweet and might bring things to a deeper level.
No matter what you do this day, it should be about somebody else.
T2C wishes you a Happy VaLentine’s Day
