Visit The Shed For Free Today

This Saturday, January 11, beginning at 11 am at 545 West 30th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenue, alternate entrance: via Hudson Yards Public Square, between 30th and 33th Street, friends and neighbors are invited to meet at The Shed. This is the new arts center’s first-ever open house where visitors can explore the building and learn more about The Shed’s programs. Admission to current exhibitions Agnes Denes: Absolutes and Intermediates and Manual Override will be free of charge, including gallery tours of Absolutes and Intermediates led by The Shed’s curators and guest artists.

Additional free events throughout the 8-level building include pop-up performances, including DJ sets by DJ Synchro(Level Up!), DJ April Hunt, DJ Bembona, dance battles between DREAM Ring and It’s Showtime, and a closing concert by J Hoard.

Food trucks with snacks and beverages for purchase will be stationed in The McCourt–The Shed’s largest and most iconic space–accessible directly from Hudson Yards Public Plaza, and cash bars will be located throughout the building. Cedric’s at The Shed, an all-day bar and eatery in the lobby, will also offer food and drink specials.

2:30 – 3:15 pm: Gallery tour with guest artists beginning in Level 4 Gallery

3 – 3:15 pm: Roving dance workshops with It’s Showtime NYC! and DREAM Ring

3:15 – 4:15 pm: Gallery tour with Shed assistant curator beginning in Level 4 Gallery

3:45 – 4:45 pm: Gallery tour with Shed curator beginning in Level 4 Gallery

4 – 6 pm: DJ April Hunt in the Lobby

4:30 – 4:45 pm: It’s Showtime and DREAM Ring battle in the Lobby

5 – 5:30 pm: Gallery tour with guest artists beginning in Level 4 Gallery

5 – 5:10 pm: It’s Showtime Showcase in the Tisch Skylights (Level 8)

5:15 – 5:25 pm: DREAM Ring Showcase in the Tisch Skylights (Level 8)

5:30 – 6 pm: Performance by J Hoard in the Tisch Skylights (Level 8)

6 – 8 pm: DJ Bembona in the Lobby

  • Crews and photographers can enter via the Hudson Yards Public Square, between 30th and 33rd Street, on 11thAvenue.
  • Media vehicles should park on the southern side of 11th ave. at 30th Street.

Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret, opera and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. She has a screenplay and a TV show in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
