The most expensive cars and supercars are about much more than transportation. They are works of art and something of a status symbol too. This year has been no exception for new technology and models being released, however some makes retain their value for years and simply don’t go out of style. These are the most expensive cars in the world and they are a far cry from the affordable cars found in your average Renault Dealers Essex!
McLaren P1 LM
Worth a huge $3.7 million, this supercar is easily the most expensive in the world at the moment. The LM is the height of extravagance, with gold plating in the engine bay, but it has also been designed for performance on the track. The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine is combined with three electric motors, which are spread between the engine and the rear wheels, giving it the capability to produce 1,000 horsepower. The P1 LM is aerodynamic and sleek, with a modified rear wing and bigger front splitter than past models to create an incredible 40% increase in downforce.
You’ll probably remember this supercar for its role in the movie Furious 7. It’s hardly surprising the car, which is worth $3.4 million, got so much screen time given its styling and speed. With jewel-encrusted headlights, a futuristic interior and scissor doors it’s a real head turner. Image aside, the car’s performance is fuelled by its 3.7-liter, twin-turbo engine. Capable of an impressive 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, the Lykan Hypersport is built for speed. Interestingly, it’s the first Arab supercar as it was made by W Motors in Lebanon.
Mansory Vivere Edition Bugatti Veyron
No list of the most expensive cars of the year is complete without the latest edition Bugatti Veyron. Not only is the limited edition Mansory Vivere up there with the fastest supercars in the world, it’s also one of the most expensive- worth $3.4 million. The carbon fibre exterior is sleek and stylish, with many custom features including a shortened hood and new rims. Of course, under the hood the car has an 8.0-liter W16 engine which can produce an impressive 1,200 horsepower- making it the perfect package for performance and looks.
Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio
Priced at $3 million, this car is on the affordable end of the spectrum! However, budget aside, your chances of getting your hands on one are limited as only six were made. In fact, this car was one of the only invite-only purchase vehicles found in automotive history. The Sergio was crafted by the famous Italian design house Pininfarina, but those who are familiar with Ferrari will recognise it as essentially the Ferrari 458 Spider with a new body and interior. However, with the 4.5-liter V8 engine the Sergio is much lighter than the 458, meaning it is faster and handles 562 horsepower better. Aside from being streamlined, the new body is full of stylish details, like the built-in aerodynamic headrests.
