The results can sometimes evolve into acute heart and respiratory diseases, even cancer, in some cases. For this reason, it’s of utmost importance to continually invest efforts into improving the indoor air quality.

How to Improve Indoor Air Quality

According to, there are five key factors you should focus on when maintaining good air quality in the indoor environment:

  • Moisture Control 

Make sure to keep the humidity at an optimal level, which ranges from 30 to 50 percent. In seasons where the humidity level is generally higher than the optimal level, use a dehumidifier to reduce humidity to its optimal levels.

  • Repairing Water Damage 

Water leakage can increase moisture levels, promoting the growth of fungi. This may later cause health risks to you and your family. Therefore, it’s vital to fix any leakages on time.

  • Proper Ventilation 

Make sure you have an appropriate ventilation system in each room or space. To facilitate ventilation, open windows, suitable airways, and exhaust fans can make a huge impact. They not only bring in the fresh air but also help in removing contaminated air from the buildings.

  • Create a Non-smoking Environment 

Tobacco smoke is very harmful to not only the smokers but also to their friends and family around. The best way to prevent tobacco smoke from harming the air quality is to make sure the property is a no-smoke zone. You can also use a quality air purifier to get rid of the smoke.

  • Cleaning 

Accumulated dust can be harmful to you when breathing in those spaces. Therefore, to effectively eliminate dust as a polluting factor, regular cleaning is a must.
