It was a fantastic week to start off the summer with the Third Annual Southwest Wines of France Gourmet French Fries Competition, presented by Wine Enthusiast. Five chefs paired gourmet French Fries with incredible wines from Southwest France.
Hundreds of guests gathered in Midtown for the glorious tasting which had Chef Matt O’Neill of David Burke Kitchen/Craveable Hospitality taking home the grand prize for his recipe of Foie Gras Mousse, Pickled Cherries and Squab Ragu. The spectacular dish was paired with a fully body reds, which is one of the great hallmarks of the wines from the region made from the Tannat grape variety and blends made from Cabernet Sauvignon.
Other fries in competition included the scrumptious Amali’s Tomatillo-Braised Pork fries, Kingbird’s Pho Poutine, Boulton & Watt’s Surf and Dirt, and The Smith’s Steak Frites. The lovely Tache Artisan Chocolate also featured a tantalizing dessert selection to pair with the Sweet White Wines of the region.
Wine Enthusiast is considered the premiere outlet and resource for wine lovers around the world.
