Pack your bags, we’re going to the beach!
But do you have everything you need?
You’ve probably got the essentials like a beach towel and sunscreen, but we bet you’ve forgotten to pack at least one item on this beach vacation packing list.
Read on and make sure you’re truly prepared.
Most Forgotten Items on a Beach Vacation Packing List
We aren’t talking about bathing suits, sunglasses, or even beach umbrellas (although if you’ve forgotten any of those items, now is the time to pack them), we’re talking about the stuff everyone forgets.
1. Waterproof/Sandproof Phone Case
Whether it’s mindlessly scrolling through Facebook while catching some rays or reading a book while soaking in the sounds of the beach, our cell phones are a must-have gadget on beach vacations. With that in mind, you need to protect it.
There are sites out there to help you out if youget sand in your precious cell phone, but ideally, you want to prevent it from happening in the first place. The best way to do this is to pack a waterproof and sandproof phone case.
2. Beach Tent
It might seem unusual, but a beach tent is a perfect addition to your beach vacation packing list. When stowed, they take up about 45 cm (18 inches) and pack flat, meaning they will slip down into your beach bag.
When the tent is erected, it becomes the perfect place to store all of your other beach gear. It’s also a great place to take a nap in your own personal shade. It’s cool, it’s dry, and it stops sand and water from getting to your other beach stuff, which, as we’ve discussed, is pretty important.
3. Underwater Digital Camera
Anyone who brings their cell phone will be able to snap pictures on the beach, but what about in the water? Digital cameras like the GoPro HERO 7are waterproof up to 10 meters and are perfect for taking super high-quality pictures and video footage in and around the water.
Cheaper alternatives, such as throw-away underwater cameras, also work great. Just don’t expect the same clarity or video recording capability as more professional alternatives.
4. Hand-held Fan
A crisp, calm sea breeze is great if you can get it, but what if you’re on a beach and there is no wind? Your problems are compounded if you didn’t bring a beach umbrella.
A portable, hand-held fan is a great way to stay cool in the sun. With that said, depending on your skin type, you can start to experienceharmful levels of UV radiation after about 5 to 10 minutes. Regularly apply sunscreen and seek shade regularly, regardless of your skin type.
5. Water Shoes
Perhaps the most uncommon item on this list, water shoes are nevertheless a great addition to a beach vacation packing list.
Sharp rocks or even prickly sea life can cause injuries to unprotected feet while wading or swimming in shallow water. Water shoes greatly reduce the chance of injury and can also be worn on sand or rocky beaches with no discomfort. The shoes will also dry quickly, making them ideal for a quick dip in the ocean.
