Dates with a Difference

Dates with a Difference

So, you’ve met someone you’re really eager to impress, and you’re looking for something special to create a date to remember? Dinner and a movie is certainly a classic combination, but it doesn’t really scream creativity. If you really want to make an impression, then showing that you’ve put a bit of thought into finding an activity that will delight and surprise your potential partner is an excellent way to do so. Even better, it’s an excellent way to get to see a different side of your special someone and learn more about what makes them tick. Here are just a few options to get those creative juices flowing.

Learn something together:

If your partner has expressed an interest in cooking, dancing or crafting, then taking a couple’s class together shows that you care about their interests and are willing to get involved too. From making sushi to wine tasting to acting workshops to ballroom dancing, have a look at what’s available in your area and run the idea past your partner. You’re certain to score plenty of brownie points for your initiative! If you want to heat things up a bit, then you could even consider a couple’s massage class or some spicy salsa or tango lessons!

Head out for a picnic:

If the weather is nice out, then take advantage and head out to a natural beauty spot rather than a restaurant where you’ll be cooped up inside. It’s super romantic, and you can pack whatever nibbles suit you and your partner’s tastes. If you’re lucky enough to live near the beach then this is an ideal picnic venue (if it’s not too windy, mind you), otherwise parks and botanical gardens make lovely options. If your partner loves animals, then even a petting zoo where they can get the chance to interact with some cute farm animals is sure to make their day memorable.

Get competitive with a paintball date:

If you’ve got a shared love for action movies, then paintball can really make for a date to remember. Whether you play on the same side or become mortal enemies for the day, you’re sure to have loads of stories to share and plenty to talk about afterwards! A venue like Delta Force Paintball which has a range of movie-themed sets can really help you get into the mood and step into the shoes of your favorite action star for the occasion!

Act like tourists together:

There are often so many activities and attractions in our own backyard that we never get round to seeing because we just don’t have the time or don’t want to go alone. Well, if you’ve scheduled some date time and have a willing partner, now’s your chance! Look up the tourist attractions in your own city online and make a list of the things you’ve never done before – and then cross that list off together!

Get a little weird with your food choices:

Whether it’s having breakfast for dinner, pizza for breakfast, hopping from one restaurant to another and ordering just one dish (shopping mall food courts can be really fun venues for this!), or having a dessert-only dinner, breaking the culinary rules together can be loads of fun!

Invite some friends round for game night:

Getting to know each other’s social circle can be a little tricky, so why not make it easy by each inviting your closest buddies round for some drinks, snacks and board games? Ask each person to bring along a meal to share, or all chip in to order some pizzas or takeout, and it makes it affordable for everyone too. If you like that kind of thing, then get everyone to dress up in fancy dress.

Take in some live music:

Check the local paper for venues that are hosting intimate live music events and head over there for a few drinks together. It’s not just a great way to learn more about each other’s preferences, but you’ll be supporting your local artists in the process too.

Visit the farmer’s market or flea market together:

If you’re both health nuts or love cooking at home, then a farmer’s market can be heaven on earth! It’s a nice way to see what foods your special someone enjoys and spark some ideas for recipes they might enjoy. Flea markets, on the other hand, are also a great way to get some insight into the kinds of gifts your partner will enjoy in future, just keep an eye on those objects they can’t seem to put down!

Most important of all, of course, is that you make the time to focus your attention purely on your partner. Do this, and every situation can become a little date in its own!
