It was April in Paris last week in New York City when French producer Gil Marsalla presented his show, Formidable at the Lysee Francais De New York, to a sold out audience. The show starred Jules Grison who was accompanied by Philippe Villa (musical director), Sophie Desvergnes (double bass), Benoit Pierron(percussions). Formidable plays tribute to the late great Charles Aznavour.
On Oct 1, 2018 the World lost Aznavour, the beloved international singer. Known as the Frank Sinatra of France, he wrote over 800 songs, recorded more than 1,000 of them in French, English, German and Spanish and sold over 100 million records.
Jules Grison, is best know for his role in the world famous musical, Romeo and Juliet. Mr Grison, has big shoes to fill singing the legendary Aznavour songs, but he wears the shoes well. With nostalgic photographic backdrop Jules captures the era of “Bohemia “ Paris as he does his own interpretations of the famous Aznavour songs such as “Le Temps, Jezebel”, and “She”. You don’t have to understand French to enjoy Formidable due to Mr. Grison charm and talent.
